SIOUX FALLS, SD—Americans for Prosperity-South Dakota (AFP-SD) today joins a national comprehensive, integrated campaign to create a strong economy by leveling the playing field for all. Called “Unrig the Economy,” this multi-year, multi-million-dollar effort will harness the power of AFP’s grassroots activists to drive change at both the state and federal level.
The initial phase launching today in South Dakota kicks off with a robust direct mail and digital effort to stop the Export-Import Bank’s reauthorization by targeting Senate Banking Committee member, Senator Mike Rounds, and calling on Senator John Thune to permanently end “tax extender”.
AFP-SD State Director Don Haggar issued the following statement:
“With both of our Senators sitting on committees that directly oversee crony policies, South Dakotans have an opportunity to lead the way in unrigging our economy. Our activists are dedicated to improving the prosperity of all South Dakotans and look forward to encouraging Senators Rounds and Thune to do the same by rejecting the reauthorization of the Export-Import Bank and end the practice of ‘zombie’ tax extenders.”
Background:
According to a recent Washington Post/ABC News poll, 62% of Americans said they thought the U.S. economic system mainly benefits those in power versus only 34% who said it mainly benefits all people. Belief that the economy is rigged is a longtime, widespread perception.
