AFP-SC Announces 4 State Legislature Endorsements

Americans for Prosperity Press Release

COLUMBIA, SC – Today, Americans for Prosperity-South Carolina (AFP-SC) announced its endorsement of Rep. Harriet Holman (HD-102), Rep. Shannon Erickson (HD-124), Rep. Bill Herbkersman (HD-118), and Daniel Alexander (HD-91).

AFP-SC State Director Matt Humm released the following statement:

“South Carolinians deserve leaders who will fight to lower the tax burden, cut red tape and give every family the freedom to choose the best education for their kids. These state legislators have proven themselves as strong partners on these priorities, and we are proud to endorse them and continue to work together to make South Carolina the freest state in the South.”

Background:

Harriet Holman (HD-102)

As a freshman legislator, Holman became a strong policy partner to AFP-SC, using her personal story to advocate for key AFP-SC priorities like eliminating the state income tax and expanding school choice. She also cosponsored H. 3021, a regulatory reform package supported by AFP-SC that passed during conference committee earlier this summer.

Shannon Erickson (HD-124)

Erickson is strongly aligned with AFP-SC on education and healthcare initiatives. A supporter of education freedom, Erickson chairs the House Education Freedom. She also has a 100% aligned voting record on healthcare since 2021, with one example being a bill on telehealth across state lines.

 Bill Herbkersman (HD-118)

Herbkersman has been a leader on regulatory reform in South Carolina, helping to pass H. 3021 and voting to end judicial deference. He also is active on education issues, supporting ESAs, open enrollment, and teacher licensing reform.

Daniel Alexander (HD-91)

Alexander will leverage his experience in public finance to bring fiscal responsibility to the state’s pension system and entitlement program. He will also oppose green energy incentives and Medicaid expansion and support scope of practice reforms.
