HARRISBURG, PA – Today, Americans for Prosperity-Pennsylvania (AFP-PA) called on state representatives to block a bill (SB 908) that would expand Pennsylvania’s Prevailing Wage Act, calling it an unfair expansion of government involvement in private labor markets.
In addition to issuing a “key vote alert” to lawmakers ahead of Monday’s vote in the House Labor and Industry Committee vote, AFP-PA also dispatched an LED mobile billboard truck around the state capitol grounds urging lawmakers to avoid this preventable cost increase on public projects at taxpayers’ expense.

Emily Brey, AFP-PA state director, gave the following statement:
“Now is the time for Pennsylvania’s elected leaders to focus on lowering costs and encouraging economic growth, not meddling in the free market and raising costs for taxpayers.
“This bill is unabashed favoritism for large, unionized contractors that will limit business opportunities for smaller companies to bid on public projects. When the government picks winners in the market, the taxpayers always lose.”
