HARRISBURG, PA – Americans for Prosperity-Pennsylvania (AFP-PA) applauded U.S. Senator Dave McCormick today for his introduction of legislation to tackle America’s energy affordability crisis by removing barriers to increased energy production.
McCormick’s Unlock American Energy and Jobs Act will fix the federal government’s broken infrastructure permitting system, which has caused the delay or loss of tens of thousands of new jobs in the energy industry and nearly $75 billion in economic benefits – including 18,000 jobs and $2.6 billion in benefits in Pennsylvania.
Emily Brey, AFP-PA state director, gave the following statement:
“Sen. McCormick understands that permitting reform is critical for Pennsylvania to reach its full economic potential by unlocking our abundant natural resources. A streamlined process for energy project permitting will create a boom in Pennsylvania’s energy sector while providing more affordable energy and moving the nation towards energy independence.
“We urge Senator John Fetterman to support this commonsense legislation to get government out of the way of American innovation and energy abundance. With permitting reform already passed in the House, Fetterman can lead the way for Senate Democrats to help drive down the cost of living for families across the country.”
Background:
AFP is continuing a grassroots campaign to urge Democrat senators to fight for everyday Americans to drive down the cost of living by supporting permitting reform.
