AFP on Biden State of the Union: This is Why Washington is So Broken Right Now
Arlington, VA—In response to President Biden’s State of the Union address, Americans for Prosperity President and CEO Emily Seidel issued the following statement:
“Tonight’s speech was an opportunity to reset priorities and lay out serious policy goals for the next two years of this Administration. Instead, what we got was a mix of partisan applause lines and more of the same extreme agenda with no conceivable path forward. This is exactly what we mean when we talk about a broken political environment standing in the way of good policy.
“Instead of laying out a serious policy agenda, President Biden chose to double down on costly partisan priorities that have already caused deep economic pain across America. He once again touted a top-down agenda of overspending and overregulation that would raise costs for everyday goods like groceries and gasoline, create red tape for American businesses and energy producers, leave workers disconnected from meaningful employment, and make it harder for families to make ends meet.
“At a time when millions of Americans are struggling, the last thing our country needs is more unproductive partisanship and gridlock. The American people expect better from Washington.
“AFP will continue to drive the policy solutions necessary to put our country on the path to lasting positive change. We urge the Biden Administration and Members of Congress who are serious about solving the problems facing our country to come to the table. We’re ready to get to work.”
