OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – Americans for Prosperity Oklahoma (AFP-OK) celebrated its legislative progress after just a month of working hard to expand prosperity for Oklahomans during the 2026 legislative session. Several critical bills that advance AFP-OK’s priorities – including legislation on campus free speech, parental choice for schools, and retirement freedom – have all made significant advancements in the State Capitol since session began on February 2.

AFP-OK State Director John Tidwell issued the following statement:

“In just a month, the Prosperity Across the Prairie agenda has made significant strides thanks to our team’s dedicated work in Oklahoma City. Whether it’s free speech on our campuses or empowering parents, AFP-OK remains committed to making the Sooner State a place where individual freedom can thrive.

“I’m proud of our progress so far in the 2026 legislative session, and I look forward to seeing what else we accomplish between now and the end of May.”

Some of AFP-OK’s recent wins under the dome include:

  • S.B.1725 – Campus Free Speech: Updates campus free speech policies, authorizes security fees for certain events, and directs the Free Speech Committee to develop training. Includes emergency provisions.
  • S.B.1389 – Parental Choice Tax Credit Act: Modifies annual tax credit cap; effective immediately under emergency clause.
  • H.B. 3369 — Requires mobile food establishments (food trucks) to comply with fire and life safety codes, obtain permits and inspections, and install automatic fire‑extinguishing systems; includes system expiration requirements. Specifically, it makes automatic fire extinguishing systems optional if specific portable extinguishers and training requirements are met.
  • H.B. 3720 — Renames the Homemade Food Freedom Act to the Local Food Freedom Act, updates definitions, and revises agricultural food‑sale rules including requirements for local food products, direct‑to‑consumer sales, and compliance provisions; includes an effective date.
