COLUMBUS, OH — Today, Americans for Prosperity-Ohio (AFP-OH) applauded the progress of SB2 in the Senate Energy Committee introduced by State Sen. Bill Reineke to improve energy reliability and affordability across Ohio by removing anti-competitive regulations in the energy sector.
AFP-OH supports a free-market approach to energy production in Ohio, so that providers can compete to provide the most affordable and reliable service to Ohioans.
As the Ohio General Assembly debates energy reform legislation in both the House (HB15) and the Senate (SB2), Ohio is one step closer solidifying critical free-market energy objectives.
Donovan O’Neil, AFP-OH State Director, released the following statement:
“AFP-OH is grateful to Sen. Reineke for making energy a top priority in this year’s session so that Ohio can continue evolving into a Midwest energy powerhouse.
“We’re thrilled that we now have legislative vehicles in both the House and the Senate whose core mission is to solidify free-market energy objectives at the heart of Ohio’s decades-long deregulation effort, and we are closer than ever to making the free-market energy system a reality.
“The six principles outlined in our Good Energy Policy for Ohio report provide a clear roadmap for the 136th General Assembly to pursue policies rooted in reliability, affordability, abundance, and transparency. We are confident this marks the beginning of the end for cronyist energy policymaking and the dawn of a consumer-centered energy future for all Ohioans.”
