Las Vegas, N.V – Americans for Prosperity-Nevada (AFP-NV) on Tuesday urged the Las Vegas City Council to reject an ordinance that would ban home sharing in Las Vegas. The ordinance is expected to be introduced at a Planning Commission meeting Tuesday evening. AFP-NV has long opposed policies that restrict competition and innovation in the marketplace.
AFP-NV State Director Juan Martinez issued the following statement:
“The City Council shouldn’t strip citizens of opportunities to improve their lives or support their families. This ordinance erects barriers to opportunity for Nevadans looking to earn a few extra bucks. It would also restrict visitor access to competitively priced accommodations. More people will thrive in the modern economy when we make it easier, not harder, for would-be entrepreneurs with a good idea or product to compete. We urge the council to reject this unjust idea and instead find ways to foster innovative forces for good in the economy.”
