AFP-NH Urges First Lady to Support Education Opportunity for Every Student

CONCORD, NH – Ahead of First Lady Jill Biden’s visit to Concord, Americans for Prosperity-New Hampshire (AFP-NH) State Director Greg Moore issued the following statement:

“It’s great the First Lady is visiting New Hampshire, but she doesn’t have to look too far to see a proposal that more effectively and efficiently helps students right now than the so-called relief bill. In the Statehouse, our legislators are working on a bill that gives Education Freedom Accounts to Granite State students and families, empowering parents to customize their child’s education today.

“Instead of prioritizing education funding around every student’s needs, the latest spending bill perpetuates the broken top-down education system that had numerous gaps and challenges for educators and students well before the pandemic. How does this bill help students now when the Congressional Budget Office found only 5% of the $123 billion dedicated to education will be spent this fiscal year? If political and education leaders are serious about helping students now, then they should use emergency federal education funds to allow parents to customize their child’s education immediately. We urge the administration to support efforts to make students, not systems, the main priority of our education system.”
