Concord, NH — During National Small Business Week, Americans for Prosperity-New Hampshire (AFP-NH) expressed disappointment with the Senate’s amended version of HB 155, which removed the original Business Enterprise Tax (BET) rate reduction included in the House-passed bill.
AFP-NH Deputy State Director Sarah Scott said:
“Small Business Week is about recognizing the entrepreneurs and local employers who drive New Hampshire’s economy forward. We are disappointed that the Senate missed the opportunity to provide meaningful tax relief to employers across the Granite State. While the amended version of HB 155 does offer some benefit to microbusinesses, it fails to provide real relief to many small business owners who are working to navigate the affordability challenges facing our economy today.
“At a time when many neighboring states are moving toward higher taxes and more burdensome regulations, New Hampshire should be doubling down on policies that strengthen our economic competitiveness. We certainly hope that in negotiations with the House, we can improve the bill to better help small businesses across the Granite State.”
