CONCORD, NH – Following Governor Chris Sununu’s State of the State Address, Americans for Prosperity-New Hampshire (AFP-NH) commended Gov. Sununu for supporting continued employer tax relief that helped usher in an economic boom in 2018 and 2019 and supporting phasing out the Interest & Dividends tax.
Both policies were key issues in AFP-NH’s legislative agenda that was released at the outset of the legislative session.
AFP-NH State Director Greg Moore issued the following statement:
“Right sizing state spending is more imperative than ever. Governor Sununu recognized the last budget set our state on a fiscally reckless, unsustainable path and pivoted pack to a spending plan that ensures state government lives within its means.
“Reducing the tax burden on small businesses, employers, retirees, and those planning their financial futures are the pro-growth reforms that will help our economy recover stronger. We have seen the success of allowing businesses and individuals to keep more of what they earn. Earlier tax relief helped usher in enormous economic growth that attracted people and businesses to our state. Phasing out the Interest and Dividends Tax will finally make our state income-tax free, increasing our state’s competitiveness so seniors can stay in New Hampshire and not move to Florida, Texas, or Tennessee. We thank Governor Sununu for supporting these issues that strengthen the New Hampshire Advantage and we urge legislators to see these policies over the finish line.”
