Concord, NH — On Tax Day, Americans for Prosperity-New Hampshire (AFP-NH) is urging lawmakers to reject renewed calls for an income tax and instead protect the Granite State’s proven low-tax model that delivers more value to taxpayers than anywhere else in the country.
AFP-NH Deputy State Director Sarah Scott said:
“In New Hampshire, we’ve proven that you don’t need an income tax to deliver results. Recently, New Hampshire was ranked #1 in the nation for taxpayer return on investment, meaning residents here get more value for every dollar they pay than anywhere else in the country, a result of a low-tax, limited-government approach that prioritizes economic freedom and responsible spending.
“Proposals like a 3 percent income tax would upend that success and open the door to the same failed policies we’ve seen in higher-tax states like Connecticut, where income taxes started small and only grew over time.
“Unfortunately, bad ideas have a way of resurfacing in Concord. Whether it’s income tax proposals, hidden fees like the battery tax, or other costly mandates, the threat to taxpayers is real and constant. On this Tax Day, AFP-NH urges lawmakers to recommit to the policies that are working to protect the New Hampshire Advantage.”
