Concord, NH — Today, Americans for Prosperity-New Hampshire (AFP-NH) applauded the Senate today for rejecting HB 1602, a costly proposal that would have expanded government and driven up prices for Granite Staters.
AFP-NH Deputy State Director Sarah Scott said:
“Today’s vote is a win for New Hampshire families and taxpayers. HB 1602 was a costly, top‑down mandate masquerading as recycling, and lawmakers were right to see through it. This bill would have imposed costly new burdens on manufacturers, which would be passed on indirectly to consumers.
“By rejecting this hidden tax on everyday products, the Senate sent a clear message that New Hampshire won’t grow government at the expense of working families. AFP‑NH thanks lawmakers for standing up for transparency, affordability, and common‑sense policy.”
