Today, Americans for Prosperity-North Carolina state director, Chris McCoy issued the following statement following the House and Senate passed budget in Raleigh:
“Americans for Prosperity applauds the North Carolina House and Senate for passing a budget that controls spending, cuts taxes and increases the state’s ‘rainy day fund.’ Adding $161 million to the savings reserve will bring the total to $2 billion, protecting us from future natural disasters or potential revenue shortfalls. Come January, taxpayers across the state will see their personal income tax rates drop to 5.25% — the current rate is 5.49%. It’s also fortunate that the corporate tax rate will decrease another 0.5%, creating more opportunity for job-seekers. More money in the hands of those who have earned it is unquestionably better for North Carolinians. This budget shows a commitment to fiscal responsibility and true economic growth. It will keep North Carolina on the right path and AFP-NC urges Governor Cooper to swiftly pass it.”
