AFP-MN Reaction to Gov. Walz’s ‘F’ Grade on Cato Institute’s Report Card

ST. PAUL, MN – Americans for Prosperity-Minnesota (AFP-MN) highlighted a new Cato Institute “report card” today that gave Minnesota Governor Tim Walz a failing grade for his fiscal policy in office.

“Cold northern states such as Minnesota that are suffering from out-migration need to adopt taxpayer-friendly policies to stem the population outflow,” the report says, citing the state’s unfriendly tax climate and Walz’s “massive” tax hikes that have undercut job creation. “That state will likely continue losing business investment and high earners to warmer and lower-tax states until it adopts a leaner government and reduced tax rates.”

As the state’s premier grassroots organization, AFP-MN has been hard at work holding the Walz administration and Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party accountable for their disastrous tax-and-spend agenda, including a statewide advertising campaign highlighting the waste in the governor’s One [“Expensive”] Minnesota budget passed last year.

AFP-MN State Director, Jake Coleman, gave the following statement:

“Tim Walz can’t outrun his policy failures as governor on the campaign trail. We’re grateful to the Cato Institute for illustrating just how poorly he’s served hardworking taxpayers of Minnesota, in contrast to the responsible fiscal leadership by other governors that is making their states into more desirable places to live and work.

“Walz needs to go back to school for some basic economics before he ever touches another state budget.”
