JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Americans for Prosperity-Missouri (AFP-MO) congratulated Josh Hawley on his Republican primary victory Tuesday. The current Missouri Attorney General, Hawley will face incumbent Sen. Claire McCaskill in the general election.
“Josh Hawley will be a formidable opponent for Sen. McCaskill,” said AFP-MO State Director Jeremy Cady. “Josh has a proven track record of public service as Attorney General leading the fight against Obamacare in the Supreme Court and Obama’s Clean Power Plan, as well as protecting farmers against government overreach by opposing the Waters of the United States (WOTUS) Rule.
“Bottom line: we need a Senator in Washington that actually follows through on their promise. For more than a decade, Sen. McCaskill has constantly misled Missourians. She’s promised to reduce healthcare costs yet voted for Obamacare that only made our healthcare more expensive. She promised to work with President Trump on tax reform to provide Missouri families with tax relief, yet voted against it on partisan grounds. She’s a rubber stamp for Sen. Schumer and constantly puts politics before her own constituents. Sen. McCaskill has stopped putting Missouri first and that’s why we believe Missouri shouldn’t put McCaskill back in office come Nov. 6.”
