Lansing, Michigan—Americans for Prosperity-Michigan (AFP-MI) today announced that Defending Right to Work will be a top priority for the grassroots group. The group said it will launch a multi-faceted effort encompassing grassroots, digital, and mail to protect workers’ freedom to choose whether or not to join a union.

“Michigan’s Right to Work law has resulted in more jobs, higher workforce participation, lower unemployment and more business investment in our beautiful state,” said AFP-MI State Director Annie Patnaude. “Public-sector workers currently enjoy the freedom to choose whether or not to join their union. We will aggressively protect Michigan’s historic right-to-work law that allows private-sector union members to choose whether or not to join a union. Our activities will showcase the broad, bipartisan support for workplace freedom and hold state lawmakers accountable to the voters on this issue.”

The statement comes as the group prepares its first grassroots issue advocacy effort of the New Year. AFP-MI will be ramping up its efforts in more than a dozen state legislative districts with a multi-media issue advocacy effort and boots-on-the-ground to encourage lawmakers to uphold right-to-work freedom in Michigan.
