AFP Launches New Mail Campaign Rejecting Act 18

Mar 4, 2025 by AFP

Montpelier, VT – Americans for Prosperity (AFP) is launching a new, state-wide mail campaign urging Vermonters to call their legislators and ask them to repeal Act 18, the so-called green energy bill that guarantees energy price hikes across the state.

The mail campaign aims to educate Vermonters on the harsh realities of Act 18 and share the truth about the big-government mandates that will raise energy costs and make life more expensive for hardworking Vermonters. AFP ran a similar mail and digital campaign last summer, and launched an online action center where Vermonters can go to contact their representatives and urge them to repeal Act 18.

In January, the Vermont PUC released its final report confirming that the implementation of Act 18, the Clean Heat Standard, is bad for Vermonters and would guarantee increased energy costs.

Americans for Prosperity Northeast Regional Director Ross Connolly released the following statement:

“It’s disappointing that the legislative majority in Montpelier is refusing to address the very real problems Vermonters face today, including rising energy costs and the exorbitant cost of living. This week, Vermonters have the opportunity to hold their lawmakers accountable for failing to deliver real results, starting with demanding their representatives to repeal Act 18 at Town Meetings. AFP is committed to empowering Vermonters to stand up for policies that make life better, not more expensive. We will continue to put pressure on the legislature to do what’s right—repeal Act 18 and get to work for the hardworking people of the Green Mountain State.”
