AFP-KY Calls on Legislature to Implement Smart Spending Practices

Sep 26, 2018 by AFP

FRANKFORT, K.Y. – Following today’s release of a nationwide map identifying debt burden per individual taxpayer, Americans for Prosperity-Kentucky (AFP-KY) called on the Kentucky legislature to implement smarter spending practices. The map shows that Kentuckians bear one of the highest debt burdens per taxpayer in the country, due to the commonwealth’s egregious overspending.

Today’s call to action follows an ongoing digital effort by AFP-KY opposing the legislature raising taxes at the pump to pay for projects the commonwealth currently cannot afford.

AFP-KY State Director Andrew McNeill released the following statement:

“New data shows what AFP-Kentucky already knows: due to decades of overspending by Frankfort, Kentuckians share one of the highest taxpayer burdens in the country. It’s time for the General Assembly to focus on fundamental reforms that prioritize spending and its not the time to raise taxes to fund the same old way of doing business that created this excessive debt burden.”
