AFP-KS Blasts Supreme Court Appointment Before Ballot Amendment

TOPEKA, KS – Americans for Prosperity-Kansas (AFP-KS) blasted Governor Laura Kelly for her appointment of District Judge Krishnan Jayaram to the Kansas Supreme Court on Monday, adding another progressive justice to the court just weeks before Kansans head to the polls to vote on directly electing justices.

Elizabeth Patton, AFP Regional Director in Kansas, gave the following statement:

“It’s no surprise that Gov. Kelly and the nominating commission – who regularly donate to Kansas’ most progressive candidates – chose yet another leftist judge to the Supreme Court today. This should be the final nail in the coffin of this corrupt and undemocratic process.

“Kansans deserve better than a clique of activists masquerading as impartial experts selecting the most qualified judges as nominees for our highest court.”
