Grassroots group will commit full capabilities in support of Judge Kavanaugh’s confirmation

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Americans for Prosperity-Indiana (AFP-IN) on Monday applauded the Trump Administration for nominating Judge Brett Kavanaugh to succeed Justice Anthony Kennedy on the Supreme Court of the United States. Kavanaugh was confirmed to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit with bipartisan support. AFP will commit seven-figures to paid advertising and grassroots engagement in support of his confirmation

“By nominating Judge Kavanaugh, President Trump has delivered on his promise to choose a true defender of the Constitution. Judge Kavanaugh is a jurist with impeccable credentials, strong integrity, and a matchless commitment to interpreting the law as written. Judge Kavanaugh knows it is not the role of the Supreme Court to drive a political agenda or set policy,” said AFP-IN State Director Justin Stevens. “We hope Senator Donnelly won’t obstruct the confirmation of this nominee for political purposes and deny Americans the fully-functioning judiciary they deserve. We are ready, willing, and able to activate our grassroots army to drive the confirmation of Judge Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.”

Brett Kavanaugh, a graduate of Yale Law School and former clerk to Justice Anthony Kennedy, received bipartisan support in 2006 for his confirmation to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. During his 12 years on the federal bench, Judge Kavanaugh has demonstrated a commitment to the rule of law and is widely respected for his principled approach to interpreting the Constitution as written.

Sen. Donnelly voted to confirm the nomination of President Trump’s first Supreme Court pick, Justice Neil Gorsuch.

Americans for Prosperity will commit seven-figures to paid advertising and grassroots engagement in support of Judge Kavanaugh’s confirmation. Door and phone scripts have already been deployed to each of the 36 AFP state chapters and a first round of mail and door hangers will be deployed in the coming weeks in Indiana, West Virginia, North Dakota, Florida, Missouri, Pennsylvania, Montana, Ohio, Michigan, and Wisconsin. Later this month, AFP will host events, tele-townhalls, and Facebook live conversations with key lawmakers about the proper role of the courts and the importance of confirming jurists who interpret the law as written.
