HB 918 brings more tax relief to the Peach State and excludes corporate welfare carve out

Atlanta, GA – Americans for Prosperity-Georgia (AFP-GA) today applauded Governor Deal for signing HB 918, which cuts $5.2 billion of taxes over five years and eliminates a corporate welfare provision for jet fuel. The tax cuts include decreasing the state individual income and corporate tax rate from 6 percent to 5.5 percent over two years and doubles the standard deduction.

AFP-GA state director Michael Harden released the following statement:

“Today is a huge victory for Georgia families and businesses. Governor Deal and the Georgia legislature deserve immense credit for passing a state tax reform plan that puts money back in the pockets of hard-working Georgians and will help ignite our economy and bring new investment to our state.  We were also pleased that the corporate welfare carveout for jet fuel was not included.  We urge the governor to keep fighting to cut corporate welfare and level the playing field that will lead to more economic prosperity for all Georgians.”
