DENVER, Colo. – Americans for Prosperity-Colorado (AFP-CO) launched a campaign Monday thanking Sen. Ray Scott for his vote against SB18-216, a bill that would have subsidized the construction of electric vehicle charging stations throughout the state. It would also allow the utility companies constructing the charging stations to cover any potential loss with taxpayer dollars. AFP will leverage its robust grassroots infrastructure as well as send mail and promote digital ads to urge Sen. Scott to continue fighting against policies that would benefit private companies at the expense of taxpayers.
“We’re thankful Sen. Scott voted to protect taxpayers from a bill that would have left them exposed,” said AFP-CO State Director Jesse Mallory. “Not only would the government be encroaching in the private sector but this bill would have put taxpayers on the hook if the utility companies took a loss on the project. Government subsidies to public utilities is a bad idea and we’re glad Sen. Scott voted against this harmful bill.”
