AFP Applauds Resolution to Stop Joe Biden’s War on Gas-Powered Cars
Arlington, VA – Americans for Prosperity applauds new Congressional Review Act legislation introduced in the U.S. House this week to stop Joe Biden’s war on gas-powered cars. The resolution, introduced by Congressman John James (R-MI), would block the Biden EPA’s recent emissions rule that would require up to two-thirds of new cars and trucks sold in the U.S. to be electric vehicles (EVs) by 2032.
The Biden EPA’s reckless rule would force many Americans to buy an electric car—even though only 9% of Americans are seriously considering buying an electric vehicle and 3 out of 4 Americans oppose regulations that would ban new gasoline, diesel, and hybrid vehicles. AFP is urging Congress to put a stop to this overt government power grab that would attempt to control what Americans can drive and what businesses can make.
AFP’s Vice President of Government Affairs Akash Chougule said:
“Bidenomics has left Americans holding the bag with higher prices and fewer choices. Now, the Bidenomics agenda would take away Americans’ freedoms to choose what kind of car or truck we can drive. Families right now are paying thousands more each year to maintain the same quality of life they had when President Biden took office. If ever there was a regulation that needed to be halted through the Congressional Review Act, this misguided rule makes the top of the list. Americans are counting on Congress to put a stop to the Biden Administration’s overreach and protect Americans’ freedoms to choose our cars.”
Last month, Americans for Prosperity launched a campaign calling on Senators in the critical states of Montana, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Wisconsin, and Michigan to stop Joe Biden’s war on gas-powered cars and instead take steps to improve our energy security and lower the costs Americans are facing from the failures of Bidenomics. U.S. Sens. Pete Ricketts (R-NE) and Dan Sullivan (R-AK) have announced similar Congressional Review Act legislation in the U.S. Senate, and AFP encourages both chambers to take swift action blocking Biden’s rule.
