ANCHORAGE, Alaska – Americans for Prosperity-Alaska (AFP-AK) released the the following statement Monday after the House passed SB 4, which reduces the hours required to braid hair from 1,650 hours to 35 hours and reduces red tape for certain barbers. It also removes the state government’s ability to take away a business license from someone who defaults on a student loan.
“Passing this bill, with bipartisan support, is a great first step to helping Alaskans find jobs, get on their feet, and support their families,” said AFP-AK State Director Jeremy Price. “Alaska has lead the nation in the unemployment rate for months. The first goal of our legislators should be to make it easier for Alaskans to start a small business and hire workers. Passing these types of laws that chip away at the burdensome regulatory framework that deters Alaskans from finding meaningful employment is a good approach.”
