DENVER, Colo – Americans for Prosperity-Colorado (AFP-CO) applauded the House for passing SB19-170, which prohibits public colleges and universities from asking about applicants’ criminal history for most charges or K-12 disciplinary records during the initial application process. It passed the Senate unanimously last week.

AFP-CO State Director Jesse Mallory issued the following statement:

“In order for individuals to overcome their previous mistakes, we must give them a chance to move on—this bill does that. Individuals can become a positive influence in their community and obtain an education to support themselves or their families. This is an example of Coloradans from all backgrounds coming together for good policy and we’re proud to be a part of it.”
