Grassroots group announces thank you campaign for Governor Ducey, lawmakers who supported tax reform that benefits every Arizonan

Phoenix, AZ – Americans for Prosperity-Arizona (AFP-AZ) today applauded Governor Doug Ducey for signing SB1828, which contains historic tax reform, into law. The bill eliminates the current progressive tax structure and implements one flat rate of 2.5% with a cap of 4.5%.

The grassroots group also announced a statewide digital campaign thanking lawmakers who supported tax reform.

AFP-AZ State Director Stephen Shadegg released the following statement:

“With the stroke of his pen, Governor Ducey put more money in the pockets of every Arizonan, helping families and our economy recover stronger. Families know how to use their money better than the government, and we’re pleased Arizonans will see some of the nearly $4 billion surplus returned to them. Without this legislation, small businesses would be faced with a harmful tax increase and our state would be less competitive with nearby states with pro-growth tax codes.

“We thank Governor Ducey for being a tremendous advocate throughout the legislative session on this important issue and commend the legislature for recognizing they cannot miss this opportunity to set our state up for an economic boon. We look forward to thanking those lawmakers who listened to their constituents and supported tax reform and urge them to continue standing up for Arizona taxpayers and families.”

Background:

AFP-AZ had been at the forefront of supporting the tax reform proposal since the outset of the legislative session. The grassroots group ran a robust a six-figure ad and grassroots campaign that reached hundreds of thousands of Arizonans about tax relief and helped connect thousands of Arizonans with their legislators. The campaign followed a survey AFP-AZ commissioned that found the vast majority of surveyed Arizonans support decreasing the personal income tax rate.
