Jun 5, 2019 by AFP

PHOENIX, AZ – Today, Stand Together, The LIBRE Initiative, and Americans for Prosperity joined Microsoft and a broad range of partners to bring Dreamers and other immigrants to New York City to ring the NASDAQ Opening Bell and celebrate Immigrant Heritage Month. After doing so, these immigrants – including both Dreamers and recipients of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) met with business and community leaders to discuss the many ways immigrants help shape America’s future for all, but the limitations they face because of a failure to reform the nation’s immigration laws. The Coalitions Director for The LIBRE Initiative—Arizona and several activists were in attendance.

Companies and organizations collaborating on this effort include:

  • Microsoft
  • Facebook
  • National Immigration Forum
  • FWD.us
  • US Chamber of Commerce
  • IBM

AFP-AZ State Director, Stephen Shadegg and Coalitions Director for The LIBRE Initiative—Arizona, Carlos Alfaro issued a joint statement:

“Arizona’s success is in large part due to the contributions of immigrants. While immigration is an important facet of our country and our state, our current system is outdated and in need of reform.  We are pleased to be well represented in New York City today by a number of Dreamers that look forward to supporting change. Our fellow Arizonans seek an end to the uncertainty of our broken laws and we look forward to helping relay their message.”
