Columbus, OH – This week, Americans for Prosperity-Ohio (AFP-OH) testified in support of six key pieces of legislation that advance freedom in energy production, property taxes, computational resources, inmate identification, and government expenditure transparency.
AFP-OH Legislative Director Hannah Kubbins offered the following statements in her testimonies in support of these bills.
H.B. 103:
“By making Ohio’s energy market more attractive for large users and supporting economic development, S. B. 103 helps ensure that energy is available for manufacturing, data centers, and other growth sectors. The bill’s flexibility encourages investment and expansion, which supports the principle of abundant energy for prosperity.”
H.B. 129:
“Sub. H.B. 129 is a model of principled tax reform. It applies Ohio’s school property taxes more uniformly, and promotes predictability and transparency for both taxpayers and local governments. By passing this bill, the General Assembly strengthens the fairness and stability of Ohio’s school funding system while setting a standard for responsible, taxpayer-focused fiscal policy.”
H.B. 309:
“Substitute House Bill 309 is a thoughtful and responsible reform that brings Ohio’s property tax system closer to the ideals of transparency, accountability, and taxpayer protection. By modernizing budget commission procedures, clarifying levy requirements, and increasing public oversight, this bill will help ensure that property taxes are fair, predictable, and used wisely.”
H.B. 392:
“H.B. 392 affirms a simple but powerful principle: Ohioans have the fundamental right to freely own and use computational resources—computers, software, algorithms, artificial intelligence, and more—for lawful purposes, without excessive government interference. Just as the printing press was protected as a foundational tool of free speech, so too must modern computational tools be recognized as essential to liberty and innovation in the 21st century.”
H.B. 393:
“Americans for Prosperity – Ohio supports H.B. 393 because it is a practical, compassionate, and fiscally responsible step toward empowering reentering citizens. By expanding access to state IDs, Ohio is helping individuals rebuild their lives, contribute to their communities, and reduce the likelihood of returning to incarceration.”
H.B. 413:
“Our Buckeye Blueprint campaign calls for a government that is modern, transparent, and responsive.
“House Bill 413 embodies that vision by taking what used to be buried in PDFs, meeting minutes, and budget ledgers — and putting it online, searchable, and accessible to every Ohioan.”
