DES MOINES, IA – Tonight, three State House candidates endorsed by Americans for Prosperity-Iowa were successful in their primary elections. Sam Wengryn (HD-24), State Rep. Joshua Meggers (HD-54) and Jennifer Smith (HD-72) each won the Republican nomination for their district.
After the races were called, AFP Iowa State Director Tyler Raygor issued the following statement:
“AFP-IA is proud to congratulate these principled candidates in their primary victories. Rep. Joshua Meggers, Sam Wengryn and Jennifer Smith will promote policies to help Iowans achieve their American Dream by getting government out of the way of Iowa families.
“Rep. Joshua Meggers is a tireless advocate in the legislature to lower taxes on families and businesses and cut burdensome government red tape. In the next session, he’ll be a valuable policy champion on the issues that matter most to Iowans.
“Sam Wengryn has vowed to fight for limited government and school choice and parental empowerment policies that will help all Iowans. That message resonated with his district and we look forward to his election come November.
“When elected, Jennifer Smith will bring a uniquely qualified perspective to the legislature and advocate for economic prosperity for all Iowans. AFP-Iowa congratulates her on her primary victory.
“As the November general election approaches, these candidates have the full support of AFP, the largest grassroots organization in the country.”
