AFP-OK Highlights Governor Stitt’s Leadership Record in Response to State of the State Address

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK– Americans for Prosperity Oklahoma (AFP-OK) responded to Governor Kevin Stitt’s State of the State address Monday, applauding him for his work over the last eight years to cut taxes, limit government overreach, and reduce red tape for businesses, which all align with AFP-OK’s goals to improve the lives of all Oklahomans. As Governor Stitt begins the final legislative session of his tenure, AFP-OK urged him and the rest of the Legislature to continue the state on its positive trajectory.  

AFP-OK State Director John Tidwell issued the following statement: 

“Today we heard Governor Stitt outline a strong roadmap for prosperity in the Sooner State. His last four years have fundamentally shifted Oklahoma’s approach to licensing, regulation, and administrative rules—away from red tape for its own sake and toward a system that respects work, innovation, and individual freedom. Whether it’s cutting unnecessary barriers to entry or demanding clearer justification for new regulations, the result has been a more transparent and accountable regulatory environment that recognizes government should be a referee, not a roadblock, for Oklahomans trying to build a career or grow a business. 

“Just as important, Governor Stitt has brought much-needed scrutiny to the administrative rules process, insisting agencies justify their actions and align with legislative intent. These reforms have strengthened Oklahoma’s economic competitiveness while reinforcing a simple principle: government works best when it is limited, focused, and accountable to the citizens, not the bureaucracy.
