Axios profiles AFP’s Lauren Stewart to talk healthcare and the Personal Option
Stewart, who leads federal government affairs work on healthcare for AFP and Concerned Veterans for America, discussed how AFP is working to increase support in Congress for the organization’s healthcare initiative, the Personal Option.
In an interview with Axios, Lauren Stewart, federal government affairs liaison for Americans for Prosperity and Concerned Veterans for America, shared how AFP is working to increase support in Congress for its healthcare initiative, the Personal Option.
Over lunch at Coastline Oyster, a restaurant just blocks from the U.S. Capitol, Stewart told Axios about the Personal Option and related reforms that AFP is promoting in Congress to give Americans more affordability, more choice and more control over their healthcare.
“We believe that all American families should have their own personal option in their health care,” Stewart said. “If they like the care that they have, they can keep it.”
“If an HSA [health savings account] is better, and gives your family more options more buying power, you should be able to have it,” Stewart added. “So, when you hear the personal option, the way you can think of it is kind of the counterpunch to the public option.”
