Americans for Prosperity Unveils 2022 Legislative Agenda
COLUMBA, SC — Americans for Prosperity-SC (AFP-SC) unveiled its 2022 Legislative Agenda, which includes priorities to expand access to quality, affordable health care, criminal justice reform, and expand economic opportunity.

AFP-SC State Director Candace Carroll released the following statement:
“Americans for Prosperity is already engaging and seeing our priorities advance at the State House. We are seeing progress on ending the overly burdensome Certificate of Need program, a change that will help South Carolinians access health care closer to home, and on ending the ban on medicinal cannabis. Looking to the rest of session, we will focus on expanding economic opportunity to all and on smart criminal justice reforms that will keep our communities safe. We will continue to push for policies that level the playing field to make South Carolina the best place to start a business, raise a family, and achieve the American Dream.”
Legislation AFP-SC will be advocating for includes:
- Repealing Certificate of Need to expand access to health care.
- Ending the prohibition on medicinal cannabis to allow for greater patient-centered care.
- Expanding scope of practice laws to enable professionals to utilize the full scope of their training.
- Abolishing civil asset forfeiture to strengthen due process protections.
- Ending driver’s license suspension for non-driving offenses, which jeopardizes families’ economic well-being.
- Reforming mandatory minimum requirements, particularly for non-violent drug offenses.
- Reducing personal and corporate state income taxes.
- Creating greater transparency for how tax dollars are spent.
- Ending corporate welfare.
- Reducing government red tape and overregulation.
