COLUMBIA, SC—Today, Americans for Prosperity-South Carolina (AFP-SC) is unveiling a six-figure campaign to advocate for education freedom in the Palmetto State. The campaign will educate constituents and call upon legislators to pass Education Scholarship Accounts (ESAs) through direct mail, radio ads, and deploying grassroots activists to door knock in key legislative districts across the state.

AFP-SC State Director, Candace Carroll, released the following statement:

“Families across South Carolina deserve to be in the driver seat of their child’s education despite their zip code, economic circumstance, or learner’s unique capabilities. AFP-SC’s grassroots army is ready to equip voters with the facts on universal ESAs which will empower parents, not take away from our public schools, to make choices that work best for them.

“We’re excited that this legislation has been introduced and are ready to work alongside legislators and the constituents they represent to take a vital step forward to education freedom.”

Background

Following the introduction of H 5164, which would expand the ESA program, AFP-SC quickly applauded the legislation and urged for the State House to take action.

AFP-SC State Director Candace Carroll previously penned an op-ed in The Greenville News calling for education scholarships to be included when considering reforms to South Carolina’s education system.
