Americans For Prosperity “Encouraged” To See Lawmakers Discuss Reducing Tax Burdens

BATON ROUGE, LA – Americans for Prosperity – Louisiana (AFP-LA) released the following statement on today’s House Ways & Means Committee hearing on studying the repeal of the state income tax.

“We are encouraged to see lawmakers considering ways to lower the tax burden on Louisianans,” said Nathan Sanders, AFP-LA Grassroots Engagement Director. “High taxes stifle economic growth and upward mobility. Looking ahead, a priority should be placed on repealing the state income tax.

“Many nearby states, including Tennessee, Texas, and Florida, have no state income tax — and reap the benefits. States without an income tax see their economies grow 36% more than the national average. When the Legislature returns next year, Americans for Prosperity will be engaging lawmakers on repealing the state income tax.”
