CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Americans for Prosperity (AFP), today, announced its first endorsement in the 2024 West Virginia primary. In the Republican Primary for Governor, AFP endorses West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey.

“AFP is getting involved earlier than ever before in elections to ensure we choose strong candidates who will boldly advocate for policies that are proven to improve the lives of all West Virginians. Patrick Morrisey is a principled leader who isn’t afraid to stand up to the status quo. He is committed to making West Virginia a better place to live, work, and raise a family,” said AFP-WV State Director Jason Huffman. “His leadership on fighting back against federal overreach as Attorney General has been a blueprint for other attorneys general across the nation. Now, we need his leadership in the Governor’s office to help take West Virginia to the next level.”

“Patrick Morrisey is committed to enacting common-sense policy solutions that will put more money back into the pockets of hardworking taxpayers, cut government red tape standing in the way of more affordable, reliable health care, and continue to fight for educational freedom for every student and family,” Huffman said.

AFP-WV has been instrumental in adopting some of the most transformational legislation in recent memory, including the largest tax cut in state history and the nation’s first universal Education Savings Account program—the Hope Scholarship. As the country’s premier grassroots organization, AFP possesses a unique advantage to empower activists and embolden principled lawmakers to rapidly adopt policies that are proven to expand freedom and opportunity for all West Virginians.

“We have a good track record of being a real difference maker in competitive elections because of our permanent grassroots infrastructure. We look forward to working with our staff and activists across the state to make it clear to voters that Patrick Morrisey will continue to fight for West Virginia values as governor,” Huffman said.
