AFP-Utah Encouraged by No Vote on Question 1

SALT LAKE CITY, UT. – Americans for Prosperity-Utah and the Utah Taxpayer Protection Alliance PIC thanked voters for saying NO to a ballot question that would have increased gas prices in Utah by ten cents per gallon – just one year after the legislature increased the gas tax.

“Utah already has a more than $500 million surplus on the books. We’re pleased Utah voters recognize that our state doesn’t have a revenue problem, it has a spending problem and voted down this unnecessary tax increase,” said AFP-UT State Director Heather Williamson. “We don’t need more taxes, we need to make sure existing funds are spent wisely and effectively. Lawmakers must find more efficient ways to allocate resources to essential community needs.”
