ARLINGTON, VA – Americans for Prosperity’s Senior Fellow in Fiscal Policy Kurt Couchman made the following statement after the House passed responsible legislation to raise the debt ceiling while reducing federal spending:
“AFP commends the House of Representatives for acting responsibly and passing legislation to prevent default on the debt while addressing our unsustainable levels of federal spending. The Limit, Save, Grow Act provides a path to address the debt ceiling deadline while reducing wasteful federal spending.
“Our government desperately needs to budget better, and Congress needs to enact long-term solutions to the budget dysfunction that has made this legislation necessary in the first place. It’s past time for President Biden to come to the table and work with Congress to prevent default for this year and years to come.”
Americans for Prosperity urges Congress to address the debt challenges our country is facing and fix Washington’s broken budget process. Learn more from AFP’s Agenda to End Budget Brinkmanship.
