AFP-MI Urges House Labor Committee to Vote Down Coercive Project Labor Agreements

Lansing, Michigan—Americans for Prosperity Michigan today issued a Key Vote Alert to members of the Michigan House Labor Committee, urging them to vote down proposals that would reverse existing Michigan law by requiring businesses to adopt Project Labor Agreements in order bid on taxpayer funded construction projects.

In addition to issuing a Key Vote Alert to House Labor Committee Members, AFP-MI State Director Annie Patnaude issued the following statement to the press:

“Michigan Democrats have made it abundantly clear that they are selling out hard-working Michiganders as a favor to their union backers. As if repealing Right-to-Work didn’t put the state at enough of a disadvantage, reinstituting project labor agreement requirements for government contracts will continue to hurt smaller businesses, who will have to compete on an uneven playing field with larger, unionized companies. People are sick of this type of graft, corruption and special favors for Big Labor that are being leveraged to pad one politician’s political ambitions.

“Michigan’s economy is hurting and Michiganders are fleeing the state for better opportunities. Regressive labor policy is not going to jump start our economy, on the contrary, it’s going to continue to drag the economy down and slow growth in the Great Lakes State.”
