AFP-MI Calls on President Biden, Governor Whitmer to Stand with All Americans in Reversing Inflationary Agenda

Lansing, Michigan – As Ford, Stellantis, and GM recently announced new rounds of layoffs due to the UAW strike, Americans for Prosperity-Michigan State Director Annie Patnaude released the following statement:

“By playing favorites and recklessly spending Michiganders’ hard-earned tax dollars the Biden-Whitmer agenda has emboldened big union leaders who know they will stand with them instead of American auto workers. Joe Biden and Gretchen Whitmer have used the slimmest of majorities to mandate the promotion of electric vehicles at a pace that threatens to put Michigan autoworkers out of work entirely. The tentative agreements announced yesterday won’t do anything to solve this government-created problem.

“Across the country there are more than 40,000 auto workers, including over 17,000 workers at facilities across the state who are out of a job because big union bosses are putting politics over what’s in the best interests of their members.

“Governor Whitmer needs to call on UAW President Shawn Fain to end this counterproductive strike and get auto workers back on the job. Too many Americans have already lost their jobs as a direct result of this misguided campaign, this is not the time to exacerbate the problem.”
