“Permission to Care,” a multi-state investigation of Certificate of Need laws produced by Americans for Prosperity Foundation, is getting noticed by academics and policy experts, alike.
Earlier this month, the report’s co-author, Thomas Kimbrell, presented findings from the investigation at a conference co-hosted by The Knee Center for the Study of Occupational Regulation at West Virginia University and the Pacific Legal Foundation.
What an amazing weekend!
This past weekend, the Knee Center hosted our first conference in the beautiful Reynolds Hall building in Morgantown, WV!
Special thank you all of our participants for joining us, and of course thank you to our co-host for this event @PacificLegal!#CON pic.twitter.com/D4nftwGBTG— The Knee CSOR (@KneeCSOR_WVU) June 5, 2023
Kimbrell and co-author Kevin Schmidt analyzed Certificate of Need application data in seven states – Georgia, Iowa, Michigan, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia. The researchers revealed that CON laws have denied billions in health care investment across those states in recent years.
Our next research presentation comes from Thomas Kimbrell with @AFPhq! He is presenting his research titled: ‘Permission to Care: An Analysis of Certificate-of-Need Application Data in Seven States’! @tkimbrell133 #CON #conference #CertificateofNeed #research pic.twitter.com/SjSFgRm6f4
