Americans for Prosperity Statement on President’s Infrastructure Plan

Feb 12, 2018 by AFP

Infrastructure focus should be on ending wasteful spending, reining in regulations

Arlington, VA – Americans for Prosperity’s Chief Government Affairs Officer Brent Gardner issued the following statement today in response to the release of the president’s sweeping proposal to modernize our nation’s infrastructure.

AFP’s Chief Government Affairs Officer Brent Gardner released the following statement:

“As lawmakers consider ways to improve our nation’s infrastructure, they should focus on reducing costly and time-consuming bureaucratic hurdles, regulations and mandates, and ensuring that tax dollars are spent on roads and bridges, not crony projects.

“We are encouraged by the administration’s proposals for reducing costly regulatory red tape and providing more flexibility to the states. These could be groundbreaking.

“As with every proposal that spends billions of taxpayer dollars, the devil will be in the details.  And as we saw just last week with the so-called bipartisan budget agreement, details can be expensive.

“During the coming months, AFP will continue to work with the administration and Congress to end costly programs and policies that drive up infrastructure costs, and to protect taxpayers from any new burdens, such as an increase in the federal gas tax.”
