Americans for Prosperity Unveils ‘Reform the Rockies’ 2019 Platform

Jan 11, 2019 by AFP

DENVER, Colo. – Americans for Prosperity-Colorado (AFP-CO) released their 2019 platform on Friday, highlighting the policy areas the grassroots group will focus on during the upcoming legislative session. The group will work to build broad coalitions with the newly elected governor and legislature to advance health care policies that reduce cost and increase access, as well as oppose any efforts to weaken the Taxpayer Bill of Rights (TABOR), the constitutional amendment that has fostered Colorado’s growing economy. The group will also be engaging the legislature to decrease bureaucratic occupational licensing practices, expand educational freedom for all families, and promote free market solutions that will provide Coloradans the right energy mix at the lowest cost.

“Colorado is at a crossroads after voters ushered in new leadership,” said AFP-CO State Director Jesse Mallory. “Lawmakers should focus on enacting transformative, bipartisan solutions that break down barriers, so individuals are able to pursue their passions without government-imposed burdens. Unchecked tax hikes, excessive occupational licensing bureaucracies, and ineffective government-run health care prevent individuals from achieving their potential.

“We look forward to working with the new leadership in Denver to address, and if necessary stand ready to defend, policies that will yield real results for all Coloradans,” Mallory concluded.

The new “Reform the Rockies” agenda, which the group plans to roll out in more detail later this legislative session, is an outline of policy areas that can shape Colorado into a state where residents can pursue their individual talents and achieve their dreams. AFP-CO assesses their priorities and goals every legislative session, however the group will increase their focus on broader ideas with the goal of solving Colorado’s biggest, most partisan problems.
