Americans for Prosperity Endorses State Legislative Candidates Across Arizona

PHOENIX, AZ—Americans for Prosperity-Arizona (AFP-AZ) today announced its endorsements for state legislative candidates vying to represent Arizonans in Phoenix this November. This announcement marked the first-ever state legislative electoral engagement from AFP-AZ and will include candidates running for both the Arizona House of Representatives and the Arizona State Senate. The grassroots organization announced its endorsement of: Rep. Shawnna Bolick (LD-20), Rep. Frank Carroll (LD-22), Rep. Kevin Payne (LD-21), Beverly Pingerelli (LD-21), Rep. Bret Roberts (LD-11), Rep. Ben Toma (LD-22), Rep. Jeff Weninger (LD-17), Sen. Paul Boyer (LD-20), Sen. Rick Gray (LD-21), Sen. J.D. Mesnard (LD-17), and Sen. Tyler Pace (LD-25.)

AFP-AZ State Director Stephen Shadegg issued the following statement:

“AFP sets a high bar for endorsing and supporting candidates running for office and the candidates we’re endorsing today have exceeded our expectations. Through their support of ensuring Arizonans keep more of what they earn, have greater access to quality, affordable health care, and students across our state have the best educational opportunities available, these candidates have proven they will champion policy solutions to our state’s greatest challenges, if elected this November. Our activists look forward to hitting the ground running in support of these principled candidates vying to make Arizona a better place to live, work, and raise a family.”

Arizona House of Representatives:

Rep. Shawnna Bolick (LD-20): Representative Shawnna Bolick has championed a variety of fiscally responsible measures that have had lasting impacts on her constituents during her time in the Arizona House of Representatives. By reducing red tape that makes it harder for Arizona families to receive health care and expanding options for coverage, Rep. Bolick has made it easier for more Arizona families to access quality health care at a price they can afford. Rep. Bolick has also championed measures that make it easier for Arizonans to provide for their families through their chosen profession.

Rep. Frank Carroll (LD-22): As a member of the Education Committee and an educator, Representative Frank Carroll has made a lasting and positive impact on ensuring educational opportunity for all Arizona students. Rep. Carroll has also been a vocal supporter of reducing the tax burden on hardworking families and ensuring needless red tape doesn’t stand in the way of Arizona’s economic recovery.  Rep. Carroll also has led to ensure Arizona reforms its criminal justice system to be smarter on crime and softer on taxpayers, prioritizing safer communities across our state.

Rep. Kevin Payne (LD-21): Representative Kevin Payne has championed policies that make it easier for Arizona’s economy to recover, for businesses to recover and for jobs to come back by reducing red tape that stands in the way of prosperity. Through his leadership in introducing and advocating positive policy reforms to challenges Arizonans face, Rep. Payne has made it easier for Arizonans to earn a living in their chosen profession and ensured more students are able to learn in an educational environment that works best for their unique needs. Rep. Payne knows the importance of access to quality, affordable health care, which is why he supported pivotal expansion to patient-centered health care.

Beverly Pingerelli (LD-21): As a member of the Peoria Unified School District board, Beverly Pingerelli will bring an important perspective and passion for educational opportunity for all of Arizona’s students to the legislature. Pingerelli will also champion reforms to make Arizona a more business-friendly environment and allow the economy to recover and grow stronger than before. By supporting lower taxes on hardworking Arizonans, Pingerelli will ensure families keep more of what they earn.

Rep. Bret Roberts (LD-11):  Representative Bret Roberts supports fiscally responsible policies that make it easier for Arizona’s economy to recover and for Arizonans to be able to provide for their families. By reducing red tape and lowering taxes, Arizonans will be able to recover stronger than before. Rep. Roberts also knows how important access to quality, affordable health care is for families, which is why he supported major expansions to patient-centered care prior to COVID-19. And, Rep. Roberts understands that a quality education is the foundation for success, which is why he supports making sure all Arizona students have access to the educational opportunity that best meets their unique needs.

Rep. Ben Toma (LD-22):  As Chair of the House Income Tax Credit Review and Ways and Means Committees, Representative Ben Toma has leveraged his leadership role to ensure policies promoting economic opportunity are signed into law. Rep. Toma fought for Arizonans to keep more of what they earn by reforming the state’s tax code. Rep. Toma also supported expanded access to quality, affordable health care and reduced red tape to make it easier for Arizonans to earn a living through their chosen profession. And, Rep. Toma has been an outspoken advocate for educational opportunity for all of Arizona’s students.

Rep. Jeff Weninger (LD-17):  As Chair of the House Commerce Committee, Representative Jeff Weninger has led the way to ensure red tape does not stand in the way of Arizona’s economic recovery and makes it easier for small businesses to thrive and create jobs. Rep. Weninger continues to fight for Arizonans to keep more of what they earn by lowering taxes. And, Rep. Weninger has shown his willingness to work with anyone to ensure opportunity is available for all Arizonans. He has led the way to ensure those who have paid their debts to society have a second chance to contribute to their communities and reenter the workforce.

Arizona State Senate:

Sen. Paul Boyer (LD-20): As Vice Chairof the Senate Education Committee, Senator Paul Boyer has led the way to ensure educational opportunities are more readily available for all Arizona students.Sen. Boyer has also supported the dramatic expansion of patient-centered health care options by reducing red tape that stands in the way of Arizonans receiving quality care. And, Sen. Boyer supported efforts to lower the tax burden on hardworking Arizonans.

Sen. Rick Gray (LD-21):  Senate Majority Leader Rick Gray has utilized his leadership position to champion sound policy solutions to the greatest challenges Arizonans face. Through supporting legislation to expand access to quality, affordable health care and fighting for educational freedom for all of Arizona’s students, Sen. Gray has led the way in improving the lives of all Arizonans. Sen. Gray has also supported a number of fiscally responsible policies—such as lowering the tax burden on hardworking families, cutting red tape to make it easier for small businesses to thrive, and ensuring more Arizonans can earn a living through their chosen profession.

Sen. J.D. Mesnard (LD-17): As Chairman of the Senate Finance and Income Tax Credit Review Committees, Senator J.D. Mesnard’s leadership has ensured Arizonans keep more of their hard-earned paychecks. Sen. Mesnard has also worked to reduce red tape to make it easier for Arizona’s economy to recover. Sen. Mesnard has also shown his resolve for working across the aisle in support of policy solutions to the challenges Arizonans face through his work to ensure Arizona’s criminal justice system is smarter on crime and softer on taxpayers. And, Sen. Mesnard supported efforts to make quality, affordable health care more available for Arizona families.

Sen. Tyler Pace (LD-25): Senator Tyler Pace has a proven track record of supporting policies that make it easier for Arizonans to make a living by reducing government red tape that stands in their way. Sen. Pace has also led the way in reducing the tax burden on hardworking Arizonans by sponsoring legislation that allowed families to keep more of what they earn. And, Sen. Pace continues to fight for fiscal responsibility in government budgeting by fighting for prioritized and transparent spending practices.
