Grassroots group ready to work with both chambers to get reforms over the finish line

AUSTIN, Texas – Following their press conference this morning, Americans for Prosperity-Texas (AFP-TX) praised Governor Abbot, Lieutenant Governor Patrick, and Speaker Bonnen for their commitment to delivering historic property tax reform to Texans.

“Thanks to the leadership of Governor Abbott, Lt. Governor Patrick, Speaker Bonnen, and Chairmen Bettencourt and Burrows, our property tax system could finally see the reforms necessary for a fairer process. HB2 and SB2, would remove the onerous petition gathering process, lower rollback rates, and increase appraisal transparency— all of which would give taxpayers more involvement in their local government. Bringing these reforms to the governor’s desk would be a historic day for Texas and taxpayers,” said Jerome Greener, Americans for Prosperity-Texas State Director. “We commend Governor Abbott, Lt. Governor Patrick, Speaker Bonnen, and Chairmen Bettencourt and Burrows for their persistence and commitment to addressing this issue. We look forward to working with both chambers to bring this reform to Governor Abbott’s desk.”
