AUSTIN, Texas – With only days left in the legislative session, the Texas Legislature came together to deliver historic property tax reform and relief to Texans. After the deal was announced at Thursday afternoon’s press conference, both chambers still had to approve and formally vote on the changes. On Saturday night, Senate Bill 2 and House Bill 3 passed both chambers with overwhelming support. These bills will now go to Governor Abbott’s desk for final signature.
Americans for Prosperity-Texas State Director Jerome Greener issued the following statement:
“To our activists and volunteers across the state who gave their time to engage their elected officials in Austin: your hard work has paid off! Once signed by Governor Abbott, SB 2 and HB3 will give Texans a greater say in how much more government they want and are willing to pay for. Even better, these bills set aside more than $5 billion in property tax relief – meaning Texans get to keep more of their hard-earned money. Our thanks to Governor Abbott, Lieutenant Governor Patrick, and Speaker Bonnen for delivering this historic reform and relief package that will ensure Texas remains a beacon of economic opportunity.”
