AFP: PRO Act Attacks Workers’ Rights

Feb 6, 2020 by AFP

Arlington, Va. – Americans for Prosperity (AFP) issued the following statement on the harmful impact of the Protecting the Right to Organize Act (PRO Act) after the House of Representatives passed the bill Thursday evening. The PRO Act (H.R.2474) would make numerous changes to current federal labor laws that would undermine the rights and interests of workers, employers, and the public. AFP key voted against the legislation.

AFP Director of Employment Initiatives Erica Jedynak issued the following statement:

“Workers deserve the right to choose whether to join a union and make the best decision for themselves and their families. The PRO Act violates that right and undermines the will of citizens in the 27 states that have enacted Right-to-Work laws. But the PRO Act goes further by forcing employers to give employees’ private information to unions against their consent and restricting the ability of individuals to run their small businesses. This bill would erode the constitutional rights of workers.”
