AFP-OH Applauds Nomination of Judge Kavanaugh to Supreme Court and Urges a Swift Confirmation

Grassroots group pledges support for nominee, looks to mobilize activists to aid in a swift approval

Columbus, OH – Americans for Prosperity-Ohio (AFP-OH) released a statement Monday applauding President Trump for nominating Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court of the United States and urged his swift confirmation. AFP has pledged seven-figures in advertisement and grassroots engagement to mobilize activists in support of Judge Kavanaugh’s confirmation, who would replace the recently retired justice, Anthony M. Kennedy.

“We hoped President Trump would nominate a judge in the likeness of Neal Gorsuch. By nominating Judge Kavanaugh, he has kept his promise to select a jurist with an exemplary record of judicial restraint and a commitment to the Constitution, both of which are vital to serving on the highest court.”

“Sen. Brown put politics above country when he voted against a constitutionalist like Justice Gorsuch. Judge Kavanaugh’s record deserves his consideration and full support. We urge Sen. Brown to support Judge Kavanaugh and put Ohioans over politics.”

Brett Kavanaugh, a graduate of Yale Law School and former clerk to Justice Anthony Kennedy, received bipartisan support in 2006 for his confirmation to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. During his 12 years on the federal bench, Judge Kavanaugh has demonstrated a commitment to the rule of law and is widely respected for his principled approach to interpreting the Constitution as written.
