AFP-NH Applauds Gov. Sununu’s Executive Order on ESG

Manchester, New Hampshire—Americans for Prosperity-New Hampshire (AFP-NH) today praised Governor Chris Sununu’s executive order directing fiduciaries of state agencies–including the New Hampshire Retirement System—to focus on maximizing financial returns.

The executive order comes as President Joe Biden vetoed a Congressional Review Act to repeal a Labor Department rule that directed retirement fund managers to consider the environmental, social, and governance implications of investments in managed funds. Such considerations increase risk exposure and have shown to negatively impact returns on investment.

AFP-NH State Director Greg Moore applauded Sununu’s executive order:

“AFP-NH welcomes Governor Sununu’s efforts to protect the retirement savings of Granite Staters. Unlike President Biden, who is trying to reach into Americans’ wallets to help out his well-connected, liberal buddies, the Governor is working, through this and his letter with other governors, to block the President and stop the Labor Department’s misguided rule.”
