AFP-NE to Legislature: Focus on Fiscal Responsibility in Budget

May 8, 2019 by AFP

LINCOLN, NE – Americans for Prosperity-Nebraska (AFP-NE) today expressed disappointment in the Appropriations Committee for releasing a budget that increases spending, while not reforming ever-increasing state spending.

AFP-NE believes the state should rein in spending and reform long-term structural spending and use free-market solutions to address the state’s challenges.

“Our government should live within its means and prioritize the limited resources we have. This budget is the wrong approach for increasing opportunity for Nebraskans, taking money away from property tax relief for increased government spending,” said Jessica Shelburn, AFP-NE State Director. “Our budget should ensure future generations are not burdened by unsustainable government spending and irresponsible fiscal policies. Lawmakers should keep government spending in check and create a budget that better serves Nebraska taxpayers and families.”
